Your new role
We are seeking a highly analytical, detail‑oriented Financial Analyst to join our team. This role would also suit an Accountant who is eager to transition into a finance business partnering or FP&A position. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision‑making by providing accurate financial insights, developing rolling project forecasts and budgets, and collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation.
Mining experience is not essential. We are looking for someone with a strong willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to MacKellar’s financial success—technical industry knowledge can be developed on the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse financial performance, trends, and key metrics to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Prepare monthly management reporting, dashboards, and variance analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning processes.
- Assist in revenue recognition, cost analysis, and margin improvement initiatives.
- Partner with operational teams to understand drivers of performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to process improvement and automation across financial reporting and analytics.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, accounting standards, SOX controls and audit requirements.
About you
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Willingness to pursue CA/CPA certification.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel capability; experience with BI tools advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate financial insights for non‑financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
