Field Technicians & Exploration Geologists

Hays Recruitment is supporting a well established exploration drilling program in Far North Queensland and is seeking Field Technicians and Exploration Geologists at both junior and senior levels . These roles are based at the same remote site , supporting RC and diamond drilling programs on a structured FIFO roster.

All roles are part of the same exploration project and will work closely as a site ‑ based team.

About the Project

• Active exploration drilling campaign
• RC and diamond drilling
• Greenfield to brownfield exploration
• Contract running through to late September 2026
• Remote camp ‑ based FIFO operation

About the Roles

Field Technicians (Junior & Senior)

You will provide hands on field support across drilling activities, including sampling, drill support, and general site operations. Senior technicians will also assist with coordination of daily field tasks and mentoring junior crew members.

Exploration Geologists (Junior & Senior)

You will support and manage day to day geological activities , including logging, sampling, QA/QC, and drill program support. The senior role includes leadership, data oversight, and statutory responsibilities .

Key Responsibilities (Role Dependent)

• Support RC and diamond drilling programs
• Sampling, sample preparation, and dispatch
• Drill rig mobilisation and demobilisation support
• Geological logging of RC and diamond drill samples
• QA/QC and data capture/documentation
• Maintain safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards
• Senior roles: mentoring, oversight, and operational leadership

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Field Technician

• 2–3 years’ experience in exploration or field ‑ based roles
• Exposure to RC and/or diamond drilling (preferred)
• Good physical fitness and strong work ethic

Senior Field Technician

• 10+ years’ experience in mineral exploration
• Strong RC and diamond drilling support background
• Ability to work independently in remote environments

Exploration Geologist

• 2–3 years’ experience in mineral exploration
• RC and diamond drill logging and sampling experience
• Strong attention to detail and data integrity

Senior Exploration Geologist

• 10+ years’ experience in mineral exploration
• Strong RC and diamond drilling experience
• Eligibility to act as a QLD Statutory Supervisor (Geologist)
• Proven leadership in site ‑ based exploration teams

For All Roles

• Current manual driver’s licence
• Ability to pass a pre ‑ employment medical and D&A screening
• First Aid certification (preferred)
• Australian working rights or valid working visa

Roster, Travel & Camp

• 15:6 or 15:13 FIFO roster (day shifts only)
• FIFO from Townsville, Brisbane or Cairns
• DIDO travel from airport to site
• Camp accommodation provided
