Your Impact
Reporting to the Production – Drill & Blast Supervisor, you’ll take the controls of the Epiroc Easer L mobile raisebore rig, delivering precision underground drilling that directly supports Tanami’s production and development.
The Easer L is one of the most advanced mobile raisebore rigs in underground mining, designed to deliver high-accuracy slot holes, boxholes and service raises with powerful torque, flexible drilling modes and the intelligent Epiroc Rig Control System (RCS). This role offers the opportunity to operate cutting-edge drilling technology while working on technically challenging underground drilling programs.
As the Easer L Operator, you’ll be responsible for safely executing vertical and angled drilling activities, maintaining tight drilling tolerances and managing critical controls around rotating equipment and heavy lifting. Working closely with Drill & Blast, Technical Services and Maintenance teams, your expertise will help deliver precise drilling outcomes that keep Tanami’s underground production moving safely and efficiently.
As part of our team, you will
• Operate the Epiroc Easer L rig in Boxhole, Down-reaming and Conventional drilling modes
• Safely execute slot hole, service raise and boxhole drilling activities
• Set up and align drilling equipment using survey markers to achieve high precision drilling
• Monitor the Epiroc Rig Control System (RCS) and adjust drilling parameters to optimise performance
• Handle and manage drill string components using radio-remote crane systems
• Inspect, lubricate and maintain drill string components to manufacturer standards
• Record drilling metres, bit wear and ground conditions for Mine Control and Technical Services
• Coordinate with supervisors and maintenance teams to maintain high equipment availability
• Apply critical safety controls relating to rotating equipment and suspended loads
• Demonstrate strong safety leadership aligned with Newmont’s Zero Harm values
Prerequisites for your success in this role
• Extensive underground mining experience
• At least 2 years experience in raiseboring or longhole drilling operations
• Demonstrated competency operating Epiroc RCS or similar drill control systems
• Ability to read and interpret mine plans, survey instructions and drilling specifications
• Strong troubleshooting ability with hydraulic, mechanical and electronic drilling systems
• Valid underground mining modules
• Heavy Rigid (HR) licence or articulated vehicle competency preferred
• Strong commitment to safety and critical risk management
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Current Australian driver’s licence
• Mask fit ready

Working an 2weeks on (1week days 1week nights) | 2weeks off FIFO roster and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.
