MacKellar is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join our growing operation at Nyngan. This is an opportunity to secure long-term employment with a leading mining contractor while operating large-scale equipment in a production-focused mining environment.
Working alongside an experienced production team, you'll play a key role in supporting daily mining targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and equipment care.
The Opportunity
Earn $162k + super as an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and productive operation of large mining excavators, ensuring efficient loading activities and contributing to overall site performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating 120t+ Excavators and D9+ Dozers in a production mining environment
- Loading haul trucks safely and efficiently to maximise productivity
- Conducting pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
- Identifying and reporting equipment defects or maintenance requirements
- Working closely with Supervisors, Dispatch and production crews
- Following mine plans and production schedules
- Maintaining compliance with all site safety and operational procedures
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience operating 120t+ excavators and D9+ Dozers in a mining environment
- Proven experience within production mining operations
- Current RII competencies and/or verifiable operating records
- Strong understanding of safe excavation and loading practices
- Commitment to teamwork, safety and operational excellence
- Reliable attendance and a positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively within a high-performing production crew
