Excavator Operator

MacKellar is currently seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join our mining operation at Nyngan. This is an opportunity to secure long-term employment with a respected mining contractor while operating large-scale equipment in a production-focused environment.

Working as part of an experienced crew, you'll contribute to safe, efficient mining operations and play a key role in achieving daily production targets.

The Opportunity

As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and productive operation of large mining excavators, supporting loading activities and ensuring production goals are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:

• Operating 120t+ excavators and D10+ Dozers in a production environment
• Loading haul trucks to maximise productivity and efficiency
• Conducting pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
• Identifying and reporting equipment faults or maintenance requirements
• Working closely with Supervisors and production crews to achieve operational targets
• Following mine plans and operational procedures
• Maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping, and equipment care

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience operating 120t+ Excavators and D9+ Dozers in a mining environment
• Proven experience within a production mining operation
• Current RII competencies and/or verifiable operating records
• Strong understanding of safe loading and excavation practices
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
• Reliable work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to work effectively within a high-performing crew
