About the role
Thiess currently has an opportunity for a Mining Estimator to join the Estimating team in our Australia New Work team. This role is based at the Thiess Office in West Perth and reports to the Principal Estimator.
As our next Mining Estimator, you will act as a conduit between existing and new customers, providing timely, accurate and innovative estimates that deliver the blueprint for operational and financial success.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with Regional General Managers and Project Development Managers to ensure the estimating strategy aligns with our clients’ requirements. You will also work alongside Mine Planning Engineers to ensure the mine plan is optimised for the recommended installed capacity.
Additionally, you will support Asset Estimators to value and optimise fleet selection requirements and cost inputs. You will analyse actual fixed and variable costs for use in tender pricing and apply market benchmarks to guide pricing strategies.
The successful candidate will analyse site production performance to determine parameters for use within budgets and tenders, and support the preparation and submission of tenders to clients, as well as the effective handover of awarded tenders to operations.
The goal of the Mining Estimator is to develop accurate, practical tenders with due consideration to the scope of works.
About you
You will be a dependable point of enquiry, have relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Surveying and previous experience working in technical services within large-scale open cut mining operations.
You have a high-level of proficiency to support application of computer-based estimating systems. Furthermore, you will possess strong commercial acumen with prior experience in mining services contracts. You understand best practice mining principles, design concepts and operations and are proficient in Microsoft Office software particularly Excel.
You will be a highly capable, trustworthy and adaptable individual with knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative requirements and personal alignment with Thiess’ values and vision.
