About the Role

Introduction Brunel is seeking an experienced environmental leader for a Superintendent Environment opportunity with a major mining organisation. Reporting to the Manager Nature & Science, you will oversee field programs supporting biodiversity enhancement and sustainable land management across the Pilbara. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity, combining practical field delivery with team development, stakeholder engagement and project coordination. You will guide environmental field technicians and work alongside Traditional Custodians, researchers, landholders and specialist contractors to deliver measurable environmental improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead habitat and vegetation restoration, invasive species control and fire management programs.
  • Support the development and delivery of biodiversity initiatives in partnership with Traditional Custodians.
  • Manage contractors, budgets, procurement activities and scopes of work.
  • Mentor environmental field technicians and support their professional development.
  • Build effective relationships with regional landholders, consultants and operational teams.
  • Coordinate biodiversity monitoring, performance measures and reporting.
  • Contribute to the annual Biodiversity Status Report and internal environmental reporting.
  • Support the delivery of the organisation's Biodiversity Action Plan and broader nature-positive objectives.

About You / Requirements

  • You will bring substantial experience in environmental management, ecology or land management, with a strong track record of delivering practical, on-ground programs.
  • Your background will include: Degree in Environmental Management, Ecology or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent land management experience.
  • Experience delivering biodiversity, restoration or land management projects.
  • Knowledge of Pilbara ecology, including weed and feral animal control, fire management and pastoral activities.
  • Experience managing contractors, budgets and field-based work programs.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop a capable, engaged team.
  • Effective project management, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and technical report-writing skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
