About the Company

Our client operates a large-scale metallurgical coal mining complex in Queensland, producing high-quality coal for global steelmaking while prioritising safety, efficiency and sustainable operations.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator to support environmental management, compliance, and operational activities across a large-scale open-cut mining operation. Working closely with site teams, you will provide technical guidance, oversee environmental monitoring and reporting requirements, and ensure compliance with legislative and site obligations. This role also includes mentoring junior environmental personnel and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monday to Friday roster | 10-hour days
  • DIDO, BIBO, or FIFO options with camp and travel provided
  • Leadership role supporting environmental compliance and operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and mentor Environmental Officers and Graduates
  • Provide onsite environmental supervision and guidance
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring and reporting activities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental approvals and legislation
  • Support environmental risk management and incident investigations
  • Maintain environmental records and compliance documentation
  • Provide operational support to site stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and environmental performance

About You / Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' environmental experience within mining or resources
  • Previous open-cut coal mining experience highly regarded
  • Experience supervising personnel in a mining environment
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation
  • Understanding of EPBC Act requirements
  • Ability to operate a light vehicle on an open-cut coal mine site
  • Current Driver's Licence (manual preferred)
  • Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or ability to obtain
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a field-based operational environment
