Environmental Advisor – Shape Environmental Compliance for a Major Mining Start-Up
Location: Northern Territory
Roster: Proposed 8/6 FIFO (flexibility required during start-up phase)
Play a Key Role in a Greenfield Mining Project: This is a rare opportunity to set the foundation for environmental compliance and sustainability from day one for a project that will play a key role in Australia’s resources sector.
About the Role
As Environmental Advisor, your initial focus will be on reviewing regulatory frameworks and developing a 2–5 year compliance calendar to ensure the mine meets all environmental obligations. You’ll work closely with the HSEC Manager and senior leadership to interpret legislation, understand the Mine Management Plan, and implement systems that support long-term compliance and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Australian EPA standards and NT environmental legislation
- Read and interpret the Mine Management Plan and appendices
- Develop a 2–5 year compliance calendar for statutory reporting and monitoring
- Identify critical milestones and risk areas for proactive compliance
- Support environmental monitoring, audits, and reporting
- Liaise with regulators, consultants, and community stakeholders
- Assist in rehabilitation planning and sustainability initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Australian EPA standards and NT environmental legislation
- Experience in mining or heavy industry environmental compliance highly regarded
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and create actionable plans
- Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills
