Role Overview

WorkPac are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for a Perth based role. The Engineering Manager will play a key leadership role in shaping a world-class operation spanning mine development, crushing and ore handling facilities, rail infrastructure, autonomous haulage systems, non-process infrastructure, accommodation, utilities, and a new rail spur connecting to the Newman Mainline. This is a rare opportunity to influence one of Australia's most significant mining developments from study through execution, delivering infrastructure that will underpin WAIO's long-term growth while working with leading technical, operational, and project delivery teams across BHP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the project engineering strategy, plans, standards and delivery model for Jinidi.
  • Own engineering scope, schedule, cost, value and risk inputs for study and execution readiness.
  • Lead trade-off studies that test technical options, execution models, capital intensity, operability and whole-of-life value.
  • Challenge default design and delivery assumptions. Drive minimum viable solutions where they are safe, compliant and practical.
  • Develop and implement the engineering approach for new market options, including China EPC/EPCM partners, engineering houses, OEMs and specialist suppliers.
  • Set up clear technical governance for vendor qualification, equipment selection, performance specifications and risk controls.
  • Manage engineering partners and hold EPC/EPCM, ESP, OEM and consultant teams to account for outputs, quality and schedule.
  • Lead lifecycle engineering integration from study and business case development through tollgates, execution, commissioning and handover, ensuring engineering information is proportionate, timely and sufficient to support scope, risk, cost and schedule.

Skills and experience

  • Significant major project experience, ideally on projects greater than $3B.
  • Demonstrated leadership of large-scale mining, infrastructure, or materials handling projects.
  • Strong engineering, commercial and delivery acumen.
  • Experience with EPCM/EPC delivery models, strategic trade-off studies, and execution planning.
  • Exposure to new market supply strategies, including China EPC/EPCM, OEMs or global supply chains. Please review the attached role brief and provide any candidate recommendations, market insights, or individuals you believe would be a strong fit for this opportunity.
