About the Role

MacKellar is seeking an experienced Diesel Engine Rebuilder / Heavy Diesel Fitter to join our mining maintenance team. You'll be responsible for the rebuild, overhaul, repair and testing of Caterpillar (CAT) diesel engines used across heavy mining equipment, including haul trucks, dozers, loaders and excavators.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete CAT diesel engine rebuilds, overhauls and repairs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engine faults.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair and replace engine components.
• Reassemble engines to Caterpillar specifications.
• Conduct testing, adjustments and quality checks following rebuilds.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and rebuild records.
• Work with the maintenance team to prioritise rebuilds around equipment availability and downtime.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship.

What You'll Need

• Mechanical trade qualification, preferably Diesel Fitter / Heavy Diesel Fitter.
• Post-trade experience in engine rebuilding, mining or heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience with Caterpillar / CAT diesel engines.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment and interpreting technical manuals/schematics.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
