About Copper South Australia

BHP South Australia Asset, Copper SA, consist of three mines, Olympic Dam Carrapateena and Prominent Hill, feeding into a central Smelter and Refinery along with an exploration project at Oak Dam. They contain some of the worlds most significant deposit of copper, gold, silver & uranium. With growth projects across all our assets, it’s never been a better time to join BHP in South Australia.

About the Role

Our Emergency Services Team plays a critical role in ensuring that all emergency response activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and with precision. We are seeking capable, team‑oriented individuals who are driven by a commitment to ensuring that every person returns home safely each day. A positive attitude, strong teamwork, and a willingness to learn are essential to the success of this team.

These positions are site based on a 7/7 or 8/6,7/7 rotating Day/Night Rosterand can be supported as drive-in-drive out (DIDO) Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) or Residential (for Olympic Dam positions)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the Emergency Services Team in responding to site emergencies, including airfield incidents, hazardous materials (HAZMAT) events, road crash rescue (RCR), search and rescue (SAR), vertical rescue, medical evacuations, and industrial and commercial firefighting.
  • Contribute as part of a dynamic and cohesive team, demonstrating empathy, adaptability, and a strong commitment to the health and safety of all personnel.
  • Actively model behaviours that uphold BHP’s values and positively influence the workplace and surrounding communities.
  • Participate in structured training programs to build capabilities in fire response, rescue operations, and first aid.
  • Engage in regular training activities, scenario‑based exercises, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
  • Participate in rotations to other Copper SA sites as required.
