Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

This is a site-based role at Tanami Operations in the Northern Territory, working in a challenging remote environment. You will interface daily with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HSE, and project stakeholders.

The role involves a FIFO schedule with 14/14 or 8/6 opportunities available.  Approved departure locations for the point of hire are Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth, and Brisbane.

Who we’re looking for!

As an Electrician, you will provide safe and efficient electrical services involving the repair, servicing and maintenance across infrastructure such as, Gyratory crushers, conveyor systems, primary ventilation fans, ABB Koepe & Drum Winder, dewatering systems, substations, HV power reticulation network, substations and ancillary items at our Newmont Tanami Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing electrical work to high standards, meeting all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining and repairing fixed plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, primary vent fans, and power reticulation.
  • Accurately recording work completed and supporting maintenance planning through detailed management of tasks via CMMS (SAP).
  • Performing all tasks to a high standard of quality, ensuring compliance with site procedures, statutory requirements and safety standards.
  • Leading apprentices on the job, promoting safe work practices and skill development.
  • Identifying and fixing faults early, contributing to continuous improvement, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Capabilities Required

  • Electrical Trade Qualification with NT Electrical Licence, with a minimum of 2 years prior fixed plant maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Crusher & conveyor systems, Koepe & Drum Winder & Materials Handling system essential.
  • Hold valid certifications in Working at Heights, Confined Space, HV Switching, LV Rescue/CPR and PLC knowledge and SAP (CMMS) experience preferred.
  • Strong safety focus with an understanding of hoisting systems and mining.
  • Clean shaven with a valid driver’s licence.
