Electrical Technician

About the role

Reporting to the UG Electrical Supervisor, the Underground Electrical Technician supports the UG Electrical Maintenance team by delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality electrical maintenance across underground operations. The role focuses on maintaining asset integrity, ensuring statutory compliance, and contributing to reliable production performance through quality workmanship and accurate record keeping.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

• Carrying out electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations on underground fixed plant, materials handling, drill rigs and auxiliary equipment
• Ensuring all electrical work complies with Mines Act and Regulations, Australian Standards, and EHO site requirements
• Identifying hazards and managing risks using PTRAs, JSEAs and formal risk assessments, stopping work if unsafe
• Completing electrical test sheets and accurate work order records to support compliance and audits
• Supporting asset management activities including CMMS (Pronto) data accuracy, BOM updates and red-line drawing revisions
• Maintaining and improving asset reliability through quality maintenance, inspections and assurance activities
• Mentoring apprentices, supporting contractors, and leading by example in safety and work standards
• Assisting with HV network activities and switching in line with competency requirements

About you

You are a qualified Electrical Mechanic or Fitter Mechanic with experience in underground or industrial electrical maintenance environments. You take pride in delivering safe, compliant work and understand the importance of asset management, documentation and statutory compliance in a mining operation.

You must have:

• Electrical Mechanic or Fitter Mechanic licence
• Minimum two years experience in industrial or underground electrical maintenance
• Strong understanding of underground fixed plant, auxiliary systems and HV networks
• Competency or willingness to complete S1, S2 and S3 supervisor training
• Ability to fault-find, test, and maintain electrical systems to a high standard
• Commitment to safety, accurate documentation and continuous improvement
