About the Role
The primary purpose of the Fire Supervisor is to facilitate the successful delivery of compliance-driven project outcomes within the Brisbane Busway infrastructure. As Fire Supervisor, you will lead the management of specialist contractors, maintain project schedules, oversee compliance documentation, and coordinate the activities of electrical fire technicians to ensure all works meet required standards and timelines.
In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, you will contribute to the business by assisting with tendering for upcoming upgrade projects, providing accurate pricing for minor works, and managing these projects through to commissioning and successful handover. Collaborating closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders, you will ensure that all deliverables align with UGL's project framework and operational standards, while consistently prioritising safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively within a supportive and dynamic maintenance team to deliver 24/7 maintenance services for Brisbane’s high-profile transport infrastructure, the Brisbane Busway.
- Maintain and operate Fire Wet Systems
- Maintain and operate Fire Dry Systems
- Maintain and operate Electrical Fire Systems
- Apply a strong foundation in Maintenance Management including: Preventative maintenance
- Conduct corrective actions
- Lead project planning and execution
- Coordinate schedules and timelines
- Allocate resources efficiently
- Take the lead on monthly safety compliance audits across all Busway projects, ensuring teams adhere to safety, quality, and supplier standards.
- Proactively track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
- Contribute actively to UGL’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) initiatives, promoting safety-first practices and taking part in improvement plans to enhance workplace safety for all.
- Support, motivate, and guide project teams, clearly defining roles and responsibilities to achieve outstanding project delivery.
- Encourage teamwork and provide mentoring where necessary.
- Ensure all project planning and management documentation is prepared, maintained, and aligned with UGL’s project management framework and national best practices, meeting all contractual requirements and responsibilities.
- Analyse and negotiate vendor quotes and recommendations to ensure UGL projects and maintenance strategies exceed both our client’s and UGL’s expectations.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with internal teams, external partners, and clients by fostering open communication, encouraging collaboration, and addressing challenges promptly to maintain project momentum and high performance.
- Offer your expertise to the business by assisting UGL’s Infrastructure and Assets bid teams when needed with tender bids and support.
- Oversee the project budget and financials by monitoring project baselines, identifying any deviations from plans, and forecasting revenue, cost, and cash flows to ensure financial goals are met.
- Look for opportunities to increase revenue by managing project variations and improvements. Offer innovative cost-saving solutions, ensuring all actions comply with UGL governance processes and help drive successful project outcomes.
- Maintain active and regular communication with key clients, ensuring collaboration and trust remain at the core of the project relationship. Combine open dialogue with transparent reporting to consistently meet or exceed expectations.
Qualifications
- Sound understanding of appropriate project management tools and methodology.
- Preferably QBCC Supervisor qualified
- Experience as a Fire Supervisor
- Experience working in roads and tunnel maintenance
