The opportunity

Reporting into the Engineering Superintendent, the Electrical Engineer will focus on sustaining reliability and availability of the fixed plant, by ensuring the equipment is maintained in line with all company and statutory regulations, guidelines, and procedures.

Provide input and SME knowledge to site electrical management plan and electrical standards, to ensure best practice electrical safety.

This is a Permanent, full-time position, on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth, WA

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with maintenance and project teams to drive improvement work, provide technical support and identify replication opportunities
  • Work closely with major and sustaining capital projects, providing long term strategic plans, technical assurance and governance
  • Initiate and execute continuous improvement projects focused on plant improvement and defect elimination.
  • Assist in development of Electrical maintenance strategies and tactics to ensure optimised plant performance and cost.
  • Provide technical support in relation to equipment performance and maintenance activities including inspections and engineering verification of shutdown tasks where applicable
  • Undertake Root Cause Analysis on significant failures on electrical assets
  • Provide inputs into budget forecasting and sustaining capital expenditure requests.
  • SME and guidance to control systems changes and improvements to plant control
  • Own and maintain standards and whole of life strategies for LV/HV electrical equipment, including substations, switchgear, VSDs, transformers, cables and motors
  • Oversight of Site Electrical Management Plan, statutory electrical inspections regime, record keeping and corrective follow-up actions via CMMS (Pronto)
  • Support development of conditioning monitoring program for major electrical equipment onsite include transformers, substations, HV panels, VSD’s and large motor to support maintenance strategy

About you

  • WA C class driver’s license
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PRONTO experience (or similar CMMS)
  • MS Office
  • MS Project
  • 5-10 years mining industry experience in the maintenance and / or reliability engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
