Electrical Design Draftperson
TechForce
Job Description
Techforce is partnering with a well-established engineering and project delivery group that delivers specialist projects across industrial, utility and large-scale energy infrastructure.
Due to continued growth, we are recruiting an Electrical Designer. This is a hands-on role with a strong technical focus across power generation, energy storage and broader electrical infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for creating and coordinating 2D and 3D designs, supporting design workflow management, contributing to documentation quality, and assisting with the planning and execution of project design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed 3D Revit models for electrical infrastructure, including plant rooms, diesel generator setups, and HV/MV/LV switchgear.
- Accurately route and model cable trays, penetrations, containments, and complex equipment layouts while ensuring proper access and clearance zones.
- Extract high-quality 2D documentation (schematics, SLDs, layouts) from 3D models.
- Lead clash detection and coordination with mechanical/piping disciplines (Navisworks experience is highly advantageous).
- Maintain and optimize BIM models, including managing Revit worksets, families, templates, and ensuring strict adherence to BIM execution plans.
- Proactively identify constructability issues during the design phase and collaborate with engineers to find practical solutions.
The Requirements:
- Extensive, hands-on experience using Revit MEP for electrical design within the industrial, power generation, or heavy commercial sectors.
- Proven ability to model complex electrical rooms, substations, transformers, and switchboards.
- A strong technical understanding of Australian electrical standards, specifications, and drawing control procedures.
- Experience with Navisworks (Clash Detection) and multi-disciplinary coordination is highly regarded.
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to join a growing and well-backed team at an important stage of its development. The role is positioned as a new and evolving function and is intended to grow into a key role within the wider team over time.
