About the Role

The Charge Up Operator is responsible for the assembly, positioning and detonation of explosives within the underground mining environment. Working as part of a high-performing production team, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient charging activities while maintaining Redpath's commitment to Safety – First, Last and Always.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely charge development headings, undertake stope preparation, charging and ring hook-up activities in accordance with mine plans and blast designs.
  • Interpret plans, record explosive usage and maintain accurate blasting documentation.
  • Identify and remedy misfires, conduct thorough re-entries and ensure all blasting activities are completed safely and effectively.
  • Ensure the safe handling, transportation, storage and security of explosives in accordance with legislative and site requirements.
  • Complete pre-start inspections, workplace risk assessments, TTTCs and THAs, and report incidents, hazards, accidents and near misses.
  • Attend and actively contribute to pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, safety meetings and shift handovers.
  • Maintain compliance with Redpath and client procedures while ensuring materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner.

Qualifications

  • Queensland Blaster's Licence
  • Manual Driver's Licence
  • First Aid & CPR qualifications
  • Working at Heights certification
  • Dogging certification
  • High Risk Vehicle Loading Crane (Class CV) certification
  • Experience operating underground mobile mining equipment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to follow instructions, complete documentation and work effectively within a team environment
