Introduction

Join a major Goldfields mining project delivering eight deep vertical boreholes to support critical underground refrigeration infrastructure. Working across wellbore design, drilling, casing, cementing and rig commissioning, you will provide technical leadership throughout project execution, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of this unique drilling programme.

About this role

  • Lead the planning, design and execution of eight deep vertical boreholes supporting underground mine refrigeration infrastructure.
  • Develop drilling, casing, cementing and drilling fluid programmes to support safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Provide technical oversight during drilling operations, monitoring performance, borehole stability, deviation and operational risks.
  • Design and verify casing installations, cementing programmes and pressure testing requirements.
  • Support the mobilisation, commissioning and start-up of specialised drilling equipment.
  • Monitor drilling performance, penetration rates, fluid losses, groundwater inflows and equipment utilisation.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges including lost circulation, unstable ground, stuck tools and casing installation issues.
  • Coordinate with project, geotechnical, survey, underground mining and contractor teams to ensure successful execution.
  • Prepare technical documentation including drilling programmes, engineering calculations, risk assessments and progress reports.
  • Participate in HAZIDs, JHAs, technical reviews and project planning activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with project specifications, industry standards and Western Australian mining legislation.

About You / Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Drilling, Petroleum, Mining, Mechanical, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 7+ years' experience in drilling engineering, well construction or deep borehole projects.
  • Strong experience with drilling operations, casing design, cementing and drilling fluids.
  • Experience within mining, oil & gas, geothermal, water infrastructure or similar heavy industry projects.
  • Previous rig commissioning, mobilisation or start-up experience highly regarded.
  • Strong problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and technical reporting skills.
  • Must have full Australian working rights.
