About the Role

The Opportunity CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an experienced Drill Maintenance Leading Hand to join our HME team on a permanent 2/1 continuous shift roster (days and nights), FIFO ex Perth. Reporting to the Drill Maintenance Supervisor, this is a predominantly hands-on role responsible for providing technical leadership and support to the drill maintenance team.

The successful applicant will actively participate in the servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of the drill fleet, while providing guidance and direction to tradespersons, apprentices and service personnel.

The role will also support the Supervisor in coordinating daily maintenance activities, maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Actively participate in the servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the drill fleet.
  • Provide hands on technical assistance and guidance to tradespersons, apprentices and service personnel.
  • Assist the Drill Maintenance Supervisor with the coordination and execution of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with OEM specifications and CPM maintenance standards.
  • Identify, diagnose and communicate equipment defects, recurring failures and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, backlog information and maintenance documentation.
  • Provide on-the-job training, mentoring and technical support to apprentices and less experienced tradespersons.
  • Assist with job planning, identification of required parts, tooling and resources.
  • Liaise with the Drill Maintenance Supervisor, operations personnel and other maintenance teams to support equipment availability.
  • Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox discussions and relevant safety activities.
  • Assist in the development and review of JHAs and ensure appropriate risk controls are implemented before work commences.
  • Promote safe work practices, good housekeeping and compliance with CPM safety, environmental and operational procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices and team performance.
  • Report incidents, hazards and unsafe conditions in accordance with CPM procedures.

Successful applicant will have:

  • A current Australian manual driver's licence.
  • A relevant mechanical trade qualification with a minimum of five years' experience in mining maintenance.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and guidance.
  • Experience in the maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of surface mining drill rigs.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound computer literacy, including experience using SAP for maintenance work orders, service records and maintenance documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a team and provide guidance and support to others.
