The Opportunity
UGL is seeking an experienced Document Controls Manager to lead and manage the document control function across complex engineering and construction projects. This is a senior role responsible for governance, compliance, systems, and people leadership — ensuring project documentation is accurate, auditable, and delivered in line with ISO standards and client requirements.
Reporting to the Project Director, you’ll partner closely with project teams, clients, and contractors while leading and supporting a high performing document control team.
This role is being offered on a 6-month fixed term basis with the potential to extend.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and support document control teams across projects
- Oversee and continuously improve document control frameworks, standards, and strategies
- Oversee document management systems (Aconex and Teambinder)
- Ensure document numbering, workflows, metadata, version control and retention are compliant and consistent
- Manage transmittals, revisions, engineering deliverables
- Manage reporting responsibilities, both internal and external
- Provide expert guidance to project teams and stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in document management practices
- Serve as the key liaison for client documentation queries and issues, ensuring effective resolution and stakeholder communication
About You
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- 8–10+ years’ experience in document control within engineering, construction or infrastructure
- Proven leadership or people management experience
- Advanced knowledge of document management systems and workflows
- Strong understanding of ISO standards and document control frameworks
- Experience working on large‑scale, multidisciplinary projects
- Exceptional attention to detail, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
