MacKellar is seeking skilled Heavy Diesel Fitters / Plant Mechanics to join our high-performing maintenance team at Carmichael Mine in regional Queensland. This is a permanent FIFO position supporting a major long-term operation with strong forward workload and excellent site conditions.

About the Company

MacKellar is a major Australian mining services contractor delivering large-scale maintenance and earthmoving support across key resource projects. As a principal contractor at Carmichael Mine, we play a critical role in maintaining one of Queensland’s significant mining operations while supporting long-term regional employment.
With production well established, we continue to grow our maintenance workforce and are looking for experienced tradespeople to join the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this site-based mobile plant maintenance role, you’ll be responsible for keeping heavy mining equipment operating safely and efficiently across a busy production environment.
Key duties include:

• Servicing, repairing, and maintaining mobile mining equipment
• Diagnosing faults and completing effective troubleshooting
• Carrying out component change-outs, rebuilds, and overhauls
• Performing breakdown repairs both in workshop and field environments
• Conducting inspections, preventative maintenance, and scheduled servicing
• Completing work orders within required timeframes
• Working closely with the maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable fleet performance

What We’re Looking For

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic
• Proven experience in mining or heavy earthmoving maintenance
• Strong knowledge of mobile plant equipment diagnostics and repair
• Current Standard 11
• Valid driver’s licence
• A strong focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork
