Cost Controller | FIFO

We are currently seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join a Major Projects team

The Opportunity

Working closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Administrators and commercial stakeholders, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining project cost forecasts, monitoring expenditure and preparing executive-level financial reporting for senior leadership.

You will also be responsible for creating and enhancing Power BI dashboards, providing meaningful project insights that support informed decision-making across the project leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated project cost forecasts across multiple project work packages
• Collate vendor forecasts and Owner's Team forecasts into a consolidated project forecast
• Monitor actual project expenditure against approved budgets and forecasts
• Develop monthly project cost reports, dashboards and executive updates
• Produce annual forecasts and whole-of-project cost forecasts
• Create, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to provide clear and interactive reporting for project stakeholders and executive leadership
• Analyse project performance data and identify cost trends, risks and opportunities
• Manage project cost centres and support financial governance requirements
• Raise purchase requisitions and work closely with the Project Administrator to convert approved requisitions into purchase orders
• Support monthly reporting cycles, accruals and forecast reviews
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Commercial teams and Finance to ensure accurate project reporting

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• Previous experience as a Cost Controller on major mining or resources projects
• Strong understanding of project cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
• Experience supporting major capital, sustaining capital or infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level cost reports and dashboards
• Advanced Power BI skills with the ability to build new dashboards and reporting solutions from the ground up
• Experience managing project cost centres and financial tracking
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar project financial systems is highly regarded
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
