About the Role
Fortescue’s Capital Sustaining Projects team is seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to join our team, where you'll play a key role in delivering projects safely, efficiently and with commercial excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment, partnering with a diverse range of stakeholders and contributing to the successful delivery of capital projects across our operations.
As a Contracts & Procurement Specialist, you will support the end-to-end contract and procurement activities across our Capital Sustaining Projects portfolio. From developing tender packages through to contract administration and close-out, you'll help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with governance requirements.
Working closely with project teams and key business stakeholders, you'll provide commercial advice, identify opportunities for value creation, manage contractual risks and support effective supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for construction works, services, capital equipment and materials.
- Manage sourcing activities in line with Fortescue's procurement policies, procedures and project controls.
- Negotiate commercial terms and pricing to support project schedules and budgets.
- Prepare clear, accurate and well-structured procurement and contract documentation.
- Administer contracts throughout project delivery, including correspondence, contract notices and close-out activities.
- Assess payment claims, variations and extension of time claims.
- Identify commercial risks during contract formation and collaborate with technical, legal and project teams to develop appropriate solutions.
- Maintain procurement and contract records and prepare reports to support compliance and informed decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve value, reduce costs and drive continuous improvement across procurement activities.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support successful project outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in contract administration within mining, civil construction, SMP or EIC projects.
- Experience managing tendering processes and supporting contract execution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess payment claims, variations and contractual risks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, legal, quality, logistics and project controls teams.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- A commitment to working safely and living Fortescue's Values.
- A bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Law or a related discipline is desirable.
