About this role
I'm currently partnering with a well-established and highly respected builder to find an experienced Contracts Manager to join their Melbourne team. This is a business with a strong track record delivering quality projects and a reputation for doing things the right way. They've built long-standing relationships across the industry and have a genuinely supportive, team-first culture where people tend to stay long term. This is a key role within the business, where you'll take ownership of the commercial performance across a range of complex projects. You'll work closely with Project Directors, site teams and clients to ensure projects are well-managed commercially from start to finish.
What you'll be doing
- Manage the end-to-end commercial performance of projects
- Develop and implement procurement strategies and manage subcontractor engagement
- Oversee cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
- Handle variations, EOTs and head contract claims
- Provide commercial guidance to senior leadership on risks and opportunities
- Manage contractual disputes and drive strong resolutions
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and consultants
- Mentor and support junior commercial team members
About You / Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Commercial professional on large-scale construction projects
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract risk
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment
- Confident stakeholder manager with solid negotiation skills
- Experience with Jobpac or ProcurePro (beneficial, not essential)
- A collaborative mindset and passion for developing others
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction, Engineering, QS or similar
