Contracts & Commercial Specialist – Blackwater

We’re currently seeking a Contracts & Commercial Specialist to join our team on site in Blackwater, playing a key role in driving project performance and commercial outcomes.
About the Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, this site-based position is responsible for supporting the commercial and financial performance of mining projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Finance, and client representatives, you’ll ensure contracts are effectively managed, costs are controlled, and opportunities to improve performance are identified and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse project performance to identify cost drivers and improvement opportunities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and tracking of project spend
- Prepare and manage monthly claims, variations, and contract deliverables
- Provide day-to-day commercial and contractual support to site teams
- Assist with monthly reporting and performance reviews
- Contribute commercial input into tenders and new work opportunities
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and clients
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
About You
You’re a commercially aware professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, site-based environment. You bring a strong eye for detail, confidence working with numbers, and the ability to influence outcomes through collaboration.
You will also have:
- Relevant qualifications in engineering, finance, accounting or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Exposure to contract management and cost control (preferred)
- Strong analytical and financial acumen
- Previous mining or site-based experience (highly regarded)
- Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Current QLD Class C Driver’s Licence
