CHPP Electrical Process Technician

About the Company

Dawson Mine is part of Anglo American Steelmaking Coal. We operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, with additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, and copper exploration projects in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia. Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Process Technician within the CHPP at our Dawson Mine, on a full-time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a safety-focused fixed-plant operator with an electrical background experienced in Coal Handing Processing Plants, to join the Production team at Dawson CHPP.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute operational tasks including performing daily checks within the CHPP, Raw Coal, Product Yard and Overland Conveying System, while attending to breakdowns, process issues, and faults.
• Operate the Train Loadout and Control Room Operations.
• Optimise Coal Handling and Preparation Plant operations through quality workmanship.
• Collaborate and work effectively with other Maintenance and Production team members, including Contractors, to better manage equipment reliability and resolve problems impacting all areas.
• Undertake thorough Inspections of all Plant and Equipment, reporting any defects or required future work.
• Accept a high level of ownership around equipment operational performance.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, attention to detail and quality of work.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement Programs that result in higher levels of Plant and Equipment performance and availability.
• Maintain a high-level working knowledge of Safety Processes and Procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety and operating systems and a commitment to working together as part of a capable, friendly and professional team to achieve business objectives.
• You will have a positive and energetic attitude towards team involvement and contribution to the CHPP team.
• You will want to show exceptional communication and people skills, possessing knowledge and experience with an ability to build relationships and work in a team environment.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Hold a relevant Electrical Trade and license
• Hold relevant CHPP Qualifications/ experience
• Demonstrated experience in a Coal Handled Prep Plant and exposure to a Mining environment
• HR License holder (desirable)
• RIIVEH306 Operate a Mine Service Vehicle or RIISAM2121 Service Mine Plant & Equipment (desirable)
• Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging Certificates (desirable)
