The Role
SRG Global is seeking an Automation Project Manager to join our Mining Services Division. This position will be FIFO on a 4:3 roster.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the implementation and optimisation of autonomous production drilling technology, supporting the delivery of innovative mining solutions across our operations.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering & Digital Automation, you will work closely with site leadership, operational teams, clients, OEMs and internal engineering specialists to successfully integrate autonomous drilling into day-to-day mining activities.
You will be responsible for coordinating project delivery, driving operational readiness, improving equipment performance and identifying opportunities to enhance safety, productivity and efficiency. As autonomous technology continues to evolve, you'll also contribute to developing scalable processes and best practices that will support the future growth of SRG Global's autonomous drilling capability across the mining business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day coordination of autonomous production drilling activities, ensuring operations are conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved operating procedures while maximising equipment utilisation.
- Coordinate all activities required before autonomous drilling commences, including bench preparation inspections, survey coordination, drilling area suitability, autonomous zone readiness, operational communications and required approvals to ensure work fronts are fully prepared for autonomous operation.
- Work collaboratively with site operations to integrate autonomous drilling into the broader mine plan and daily production activities.
- Develop, trial, document and implement improved autonomous operating procedures, workflows and best practice methodologies that increase productivity, reduce manual intervention and establish repeatable operating standards for future autonomous drilling projects.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability while minimising operational disruption.
- Collaborate with OEM partners and the SRG Engineering & Digital Automation team to evaluate emerging automation technologies, equipment improvements and support the ongoing development of autonomous drilling systems.
About You / Requirements
- Previous experience in a project management or operational leadership role within the mining industry.
- Extensive experience within surface mining operations, with a strong background in drilling and blasting.
- Proven ability to coordinate operational activities and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic mining environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across operations, maintenance, engineering, clients and OEM partners.
- Strong commitment to safety leadership, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Strong computer and systems skills and knowledge.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Qualification in Mining Engineering, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline (desirable).
