Asphalt Leading Hand

Unite Resourcing is currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Leading Hand to join an established asphalt crew based out of Hazelmere, WA.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced asphalt professional who is ready to take on a leadership role, supporting the Foreman and coordinating crews across a variety of road and pavement works.

About the Role
As Leading Hand, you will work closely with the Foreman to ensure asphalt works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating asphalt crews during daily paving operations
• Supporting the Foreman with planning and allocation of daily tasks
• Providing direction to Paver, Roller and Truck Operators and Asphalt Labourers
• Assisting with the setup and delivery of asphalt paving works
• Monitoring workmanship, productivity and quality throughout the shift
• Training, mentoring and supporting new team members
• Ensuring pre-starts and site safety requirements are followed
• Operating asphalt mobile plant when required
• Identifying and communicating site or operational issues to the Foreman
• Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and efficient teamwork
• Working hands-on alongside the crew when required

What We're Looking For

• Strong previous asphalt industry experience
• Previous Leading Hand or senior crew experience
• Ability to confidently lead and coordinate an asphalt team
• MR Truck Licence - minimum
• Construction White Card
• Asphalt mobile plant experience
• Ability to train and mentor new team members
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving and compaction operations
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
• Ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and nightshift
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work away from home when required
