Our 4-year Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship provides hands-on experience assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems on advanced heavy equipment, while completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (MEM30219).
You’ll learn from industry experts, train in world-class facilities, and be supported every step of the way.
Komatsu’s apprentice program is one of the best in the country, recognised at the National Training Awards with multiple awards for employing and developing apprentices.

About the qualification
The MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Mechanical Fitter) is a nationally recognised Australian qualification.
The qualification develops skills in:
- Disassemble, repair and reassemble of mechanical components.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Perform fault finding and troubleshooting.
- Use precision measuring instruments and quality control techniques.
- Apply workplace health and safety procedures
The role of a Fitter/Machinist at Komatsu involves working to build and repair componentry in a workshop environment.
Holders of this qualification demonstrate strong technical ability, precision, comprehensive practical skills and knowledge and a commitment to safety and quality, making them well suited to workshop-based roles.
