Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Risk Advisor. This role will see you become an integral part of team, living and working residentially with a working roster of 5/2/ 4/3 – 9 hour shift

The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent – Safety and Risk, the Advisor – Risk, plays a critical role in strengthening risk management capability across the George Fisher Mine. You will provide expert guidance, assurance support and leadership in the application of risk frameworks, ensuring that fatal and catastrophic risks are effectively identified, controlled and verified. This residential role in Mount Isa offers roster flexibility and the opportunity to partner closely with operational teams to enhance safety outcomes across one of Australia’s most complex underground mining operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing coaching and mentoring to operational teams on risk identification, control evaluation and effective risk management practices.
• Ensuring comprehensive Risk Registers and Hazard Management Plans are established, maintained and regularly reviewed for all fatal and catastrophic risks across George Fisher Mine.
• Facilitating and reviewing risk assessments, risk management plans and formal risk reports to support informed decision-making.
• Developing, reviewing and implementing critical control performance standards, including establishing verification processes and completing performance reviews.
• Supporting internal and external audits through participation, tracking of audit actions and providing progress updates to the Management Team.
• Offering assurance insights that strengthen Glencore’s risk management processes and embed consistent risk culture across the operation.

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

• Qualifications in workplace health and safety, risk management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in developing bowties, risk registers and critical control management processes (ICMM methodology highly regarded).
• At least three years’ experience in WHS and/or risk management, ideally within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Knowledge and practical application of ISO 31000 Risk Management principles.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across diverse operational and technical areas.
• Proven capability in risk facilitation, coaching, mentoring and stakeholder engagement.
• A solid understanding of relevant legislative requirements related to mining safety and risk.
• A proactive and innovative approach to problem?solving, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex operational challenges.
