About the Role

Become the Future Talent of Thiess. We are looking for a diverse group of enthusiastic and talented individuals to kick-start their trade careers through the Thiess 2027 Apprenticeship Program. Completing an apprenticeship at one of our projects in Queensland or New South Wales means joining the Future Talent of Thiess.

Thiess provides a four-year structured program aimed at developing highly skilled tradespeople in the resources industry, leading to a nationally recognised trade qualification.

Important Information

  • The program commences on Monday, 1 February 2027

What you’ll receive throughout the apprenticeship:

  • Standard 11 (QLD only)
  • First Aid certificate
  • Working at Heights certificate
  • College fees and associated costs covered by Thiess
  • The opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best tradespeople in the industry

Apprenticeship Disciplines Available

  • Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter
  • Fabricator/Boilermaker
  • Automotive Electrician
  • High Voltage Electrician
  • Light Vehicle Mechanic

Apprenticeships are offered across QLD and NSW projects, with positions and locations subject to change.

QLD Sites:

  • Caval Ridge Mine
  • Olive Downs Complex
  • QCoal Northern Hub
  • Peak Downs Mine
  • Lake Vermont
  • Curragh North

NSW Sites:

  • Mt Arthur South
  • Mount Pleasant Operations
  • Mt Thorley Workshop

Preference will be given to applicants who live close to these sites, to make travel easier.
