Principal Category Management

Our client is looking for an experienced Principal Category Specialist to join a leading resources organisation supporting mobile equipment and decarbonisation execution activities.

Roster: 5/2 - Perth CBD Location

Start date: ASAP

Duration: approx. 6 months - depending on client requirements

Pay Rate: $80.00 p/h

Please note that only people with relevant experience will be considered.

The Role:

This role will play a key part in delivering strategic procurement outcomes across high-value and high-risk contracts while partnering closely with operational stakeholders to drive value, supplier performance, and commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities
  • Develop and implement category strategies
  • Lead supplier relationship and contract management activities
  • Support negotiations for complex commercial agreements
  • Monitor supplier performance, governance, compliance, and risk
  • Deliver procurement analysis and reporting across the contract lifecycle
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives

The ideal candidate will hold the following**:**

  • Previous experience within mining, resources, heavy mobile equipment, or related industries
  • Strong background in procurement, contracts, category management, or supply chain
  • Demonstrated experience managing commercial contracts and supplier relationships
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Law, or similar
